As the first introduction to school, the 3K preschool program will provide a foundation for success in 4K and beyond, and will reinforce the Catholic values found throughout Holy Apostles School.

Our goals for each child are to develop a love of learning, a love of Christ, foster independence and develop social and personal development skills (following directions, cooperation, good manners).

We strive to develop fine and gross motor skills, pre-reading and math readiness skills, language development, and social skills.  We do this through: gluing, cutting and tracing; counting; letter recognition; color recognition; grouping objects; spacial relation; free and group play; self-help.

In 3K, a typical day begins with welcoming our students into the classroom and allowing them free-choice play while everyone arrives.  Once all students have arrived, we begin our carpet time with our morning meeting where we begin in prayer, learn a song or finger play, read a story, review the calendar, and focus on a lesson as a large group, based on a weekly theme. Next we do a large group activity, such as an art project or a religion lesson.

We break for morning snack and then continue our large group instruction with another craft or learning activity. Once a week we also visit the library. We continue with free choice play, where students are encouraged to play and explore their environment in various centers at their own pace.  We end our day with a goodbye meeting at the carpet and outside time on the playground.
